Marriage Equality for Iowa of all places. Amazing!
(updated / edited) This is from the decision summary, and totally worth repeating, (emphasis all mine):

Emerging Talent No. 9: Leslie Kwok →
Leslie was named as one of Step’s Emerging Talents of 2009! Go Leslie!!!
“Her desire is to “make more self-initiated work that allows people to come together—make the design objective of the piece a reason for people to come together and do something or make something. Its by-product will inevitably be not only an experience, but a memory.” Kwok’s work frequently deals with...

Franklin Delano Obama →
“The absurd system of health coverage we now have is a historical accident from World War II. Because of wage controls, employers competed for workers by offering health insurance as a fringe benefit — and so we’re stuck today with a system in which the loss of a job is compounded by the loss of health insurance.”

I watched The Sopranos for the first time in 2008. I know, I’m behind the curve. But now that I’m done watching, I miss them. This video is kind of incredible, I don’t know who did it, and I can’t really watch the whole thing, but watching overweight men curse has never made me so nostalgic.

Why Israel Can't Make Peace With Hamas →
In Israel, a Consensus That Gaza War Is a Just One →
“Because Hamas booby-traps schools, apartment buildings and the zoo, and its fighters hide among civilians, it is Hamas that is viewed here as responsible for the civilian toll. Hamas is committed to Israel’s destruction and gets help and inspiration from Iran, so that what looks to the world like a disproportionate war of choice is seen by many here as an obligatory war for...

No Furnaces but Heat Aplenty in ‘Passive Houses’ →
I want one!!
“Even on the coldest nights in central Germany, Mr. Kaufmann’s new “passive house” and others of this design get all the heat and hot water they need from the amount of energy that would be needed to run a hair dryer. “You don’t think about temperature — the house just adjusts,” said Mr. Kaufmann, watching his 2-year-old daughter, dressed in a T-shirt, tuck into her sausage in...

Rules Let Health Workers Deny Abortions →
hannahlea:
Well, I have to say, Obama just got my vote. I can’t believe that in this day and age, we are supporting health worker’s “rights” to deny women access to medicine and medical procedures, not to mention information about them. Words cannot describe my fury.
